1 October 2003 MEETING MINUTES

Next Meeting: Wednesday, 8 October 2003

Present: Daniel Alonzo, Angela Palmer, Shelley Aggeler, Aubrey Carrier, Catherine O’Dell, Nora Stick, Jake Cleary, Catherine Stollar, Mary Anne MarDock, Steven Cooper, Vanessa Cameron, Gerrianne Schaad, Ron Drees, Cherie Baker, Brandon Burke, Rick Taylor.

Daniel called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m.

I. Archives Week 2003

A. Speakers

* Catherine S. has contacted Steve Mielke about formulating a title for his speech.
* All other speaker details have been finalized.

B. Fundraising

* We have received $300 from Student Government and $100 from Hollinger.

C. Publicity

* The posters are ready to be printed.
* Steven is nearly done with the website and will post it as soon as possible.
* Aubrey revised the press release and is working on a distribution strategy with Steven and Mary Anne.

II. PCS Mixer

* The bowling party with PCS students is still on schedule for next Thursday, 9 October at 7:00 p.m. at the Texas Union. Daniel will send an e-mail to the listservs to make sure everyone knows where and when the mixer will take place.

III. Special Guest – Gerrianne Schaad

* Gerrianne Schaad, archivist at the University of Texas at San Antonio and member of the SAA Membership Committee, outlined the benefits of the SAA mentoring program.
* She also encouraged student involvement in the 2004 conference of the Society of Southwestern Archivists, which will be held in San Antonio.

Daniel adjourned the meeting at 12:24 p.m.

Next Meeting

* The next meeting will be held Wednesday, 8 October at 12:00 noon in SZB 556.
